Marula Oil

Marula Oil

What is Marula oil?

Marula oil is harvested from the walnut-sized stone of the yellow fruit of the African Marula tree. The stones are hand-pressed to extract the oil. People of southern Africa have been extracting this oil for generations, celebrating it for its extreme moisturising capacity and its ability to be absorbed quickly into the skin.

Why use Marula oil?

Now Marula oil is used global brands who praise its fatty acid composition and the ease and quickness with which it is absorbed into the skin.

It is often found in organic, botanical-heavy skincare lines because:

  • It has high levels of fatty acids, including oleic acid, which has antioxidant properties, and palmitic acid, which has been proven to be a good skin permeation enhancer.
  • It has high occlusive effects, which means that the oil stays on your skin after topical application so the fatty acids are absorbed.
  • It has anti-aging phytochemicals, which are the active compounds found in plants that help retain elastin and collagen in the skin.
  • It is non-irritating and very gentle.

How can you benefit from Marula Oil?

Sensitive skin - the high levels of Omega 6 and Omega 9 in Marula oil, means it penetrates the skin and the more rapidly it is absorbed quickly by the skin. Because your skin is made up of layers, oil that penetrates your skin faster means less clogging of your pores, less reactions and less acne breakouts.

Sun damaged skin – with regular use, Marula Oil delivers advanced protection against the damaging effects of the sun. It has antioxidant protection which neutralizes free radicals. This means you will have younger looking skin and better defense against premature skin aging.

Dehydrated skin– two major causes of aging in skin are dehydration and damage caused by free radicals.  Marula oil is effective in combating both causes of premature aging. It forms a protective coating on the skin to prevent water loss. This leads to continuous hydration and filling in of fine line and wrinkles

High concentrations of vitamin C and E – did you know that the Marula oil contains up to 10 times more vitamin C than an orange! Vitamins C helps to renew your cells and helps to promote the production of collagen and elastin to boost skin firmness, density and volume of your skin. The vitamin E helps to regenerate hair follicle cells.

Dry hair and scalp – Marula oil for hair growth and nourishment has been popular in Africa for centuries. The good news for you is that it works on any type of hair! Marula oil sinks deeply into the scalp and it penetrates the roots and well as the shaft of the hair. Marula oil is lightweight, fast absorbing and gives your hair a silky, shiny feel. It seals in moisture by coating and smoothing the hair cuticle.

If you have any of these concerns, then you can definitely benefit from products that contain Marula oil.
